About Dr. Proost  
Dr. Proost is a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology who provides psychotherapy, consultation, and assessment services to children, adolescents, early adults, and families. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, behavior modification, and other evidence-based treatments, he works with a variety of mental health issues including inattention/hyperactivity, depression, anger, self-esteem, school, and relational concerns. Dr. Proost specializes in treating a variety of anxiety issues, such as generalized anxiety, test anxiety, social anxiety, school phobia, selective mutism, panic disorder, and self-harm/cutting.

Individualized
Dr. Proost’s therapeutic approach is guided by his belief in three principles of therapy: Collaboration, Communication, and Acceptance. These principles provide the foundation for the treatment experience and help to establish a caring, safe, and supportive environment from which to experience personal growth. Therapy should not be a mysterious or misleading process, and he strives to ensure that each client is an active and valued participant throughout the process. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to mental health, however, and Dr. Proost develops treatment plans that are tailored to the needs of each individual based on the presenting concerns, personal strengths, social supports, and phase of life to produce tangible social, behavioral, educational, and occupational gains. 

Proficient
Dr. Proost obtained his M.S. in Educational Psychology and PhD in School Psychology from Indiana University. He completed his doctoral psychology internship and post-doctoral fellowship with the Dallas Independent School District Psychological and Social Services Department, where he provided a variety of psychological and crisis response services to underserved children and families. Dr. Proost’s professional activities span over 2 decades of work in the field of school psychology and include psychoeducational training, systemic consultation, university collaboration, program management, psychological assessment development. 


Dr. Proost is an avid reader and comic book collector. He owns over 20,000 comics and over 100 pieces of original comic book art pages/commissions.  He is also a passionate soccer fan and supporter of the arts.
